Returns Policies


Refunds, returns and exchanges on shipped items

We accept returns up to 30 days after delivery if the item is unused and in its original condition. We will refund the amount for the returned products. Costs for both shipping and the return won’t be refunded.


In the event that your order arrives damaged in any way, please email us as soon as possible at [email protected] with your order number and a photo of the item’s condition. We address these on a case-by-case basis but will try our best to work towards a satisfactory solution.

Returns made easy

You are able to return items purchased in-store or online at any Dunbar Lumber store. The warehouse doesn’t process any returns at the current time.

Unopened items, with a receipt, in original packaging and returned within 90 days of purchase will receive a refund to the original method of payment or will receive an exchange. Items that are opened, damaged and/or not in resalable condition may not be eligible for a refund or exchange.



Items Purchased in-stores

Items purchased at one of our stores can only be returned in-store. For fast returns, keep your receipt. It not only ensures you get the proper credit for your purchase, but it also helps us process your return as quick as possible.



Items Purchased Online

For your convenience, items purchased on dunbarlumber.com can be returned to any store within 90 days of purchase, subject to the exceptions listed under Return Policy Exceptions.



Bring the item(s) with a copy of your confirmation email to your preferred Dunbar Lumber store for credit to your original form of payment or a Dunbar Lumber store credit.



Return Policy Exceptions

Some Order-in only returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Cancellations may also be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Talk to us over the phone for details on those cases.



We require an acceptable form of government-issued photo identification (see below for more details) for non-receipted returns and returns generated from purchases made with store credits.



Gift certificates and store credit cannot be exchanged or returned for cash, credit or check.



***_Power Tools (Defective Only)_*** must be returned within 30 days of pick-up or in-store purchase. Any product damage and/or defects must be reported within 30 days.



***_Special Order_*** items should be inspected thoroughly at the time of pick-up. If the item is damaged, refuse before taking it. Be sure to report any product defects or damages right away.



No returns on:

  • Special Orders
  • Power Tools (Unless defective)
  • Products cut to length or modified
  • Keys (we’ll cut you another one if the one you got doesn’t work)
  • Clearance or final sale merchandise


Acceptable Forms of ID

You may be asked to present an acceptable form of government-issued photo identification for purchases and/or returns. Acceptable forms of ID include unexpired federal or provincial issued photo ID including driver’s license, military ID and passports. Your ID number/province will be collected and used solely for the purpose of fraud detection and making return authorization decisions. As a security measure, your ID number will be immediately hashed such that the ID number is not directly retained and cannot be connected to you except when used for this purpose.



Other Terms and Conditions

  • Dunbar Lumber reserves the right to request valid identification prior to accepting merchandise for a return.
  • Dunbar Lumber reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of certain merchandise at any time and for any reason.
  • Dunbar Lumber will only accept the return of merchandise purchased from Dunbar Lumber.
  • Special order purchases must be returned to the same location in which it was purchased.
